Thanh Dong Organic Farm

Tucked away in the Cam Thanh countryside, the Thanh Dong Organic Farm is the first of its kind in Hoi An. A tall border of elephant grass surrounds the farm, where tidy rows of cabbages, tomatoes, squash, corn, mint, and countless other vegetables and herbs spring up from the soil. The farmers here will show you how they make their own chemical-free fertilizers and pesticides, and you’ll discover a few secrets about planting and growing vegetables the organic way. After, join a cooking class, stay for lunch, or take a basket boat ride on the nearby river.

The farm is run by a cooperative of 10 families, who switched their operations to a fully organic model in 2014. The highlight of any visit is learning how the farmers have increased their income and created a healthy environment for themselves and the produce they grow.
